Re: Serial Number 36245

It's a SHAME to break up what may be an existing genuine carbine, to "hump up" another, which may then look right, but which will never again BE right. I have no problem with restoring small parts, but what is going on here is directly and specifically contrary to the NRA's Collector Code of Ethics. I have made appropriate updates to both numbers in my registry.

Sorry - no further info available from me, and, I regret to advise that should 17425 show up at a Greg Martin (or similar) auction in a couple of years, for $2,000,000 or some such, rest assured that I will, if asked, point out that it is not original. I'm very sorry - but that is my position.

I will say that Mr. Rush sold 12221 as either a rifle or cadet some years ago, and that I understand it is (after I pointed out the number to him) once more a carbine. That too is noted in the registry. I further suspect that 38853 never was a carbine - the Arms Gazette article from the 70s was full of BS. I understand that it, too, is now in carbine configuration. All duly noted for future reference.
