strange rifle

Posted by tom allum on Wednesday, 28 January 2009, at 4:56 p.m.

I guy is offering a 50/70 trapdoor.......mid 60's. The stock appears as if it was never issued. it is not finished with linseed oil or anything I can see. The cartouches coud have been stamped yesterday. no finger or hand marks on stock either. The metal is all completely white. All trace of bluing is eithe removed or was never present. bore is pristene. It does not appear to be a repro at all. Ther are a few dings on the outside of the barrel and a couple of screws have been slightly "buggered". What am I lookin at? It seems to be an unissued rifle or demonstrater?. I deal mostly in Martini Henrys and this is new to me. Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated. Tom Allum
