Linda, there are three ways to check a serial number since the serial number web site was shut down by its owner. One send the serial number with 25.00 check to SPRINGFIELD RESEARCH SERVICE POB 126 Cabin Johh, Md. 20818. Two order a complete set of serial number books from the same address the five booke plus subscription will run about 150.00. Expect a wait of severial weeks or months as he is very busy. three post the COMPLETE serial number here and someone with the book sets will look for you and post any information listed and only a small number were ever recorded, but this would be free and take a day or so. From your 564xxx number it can ONLY be a rod-bayonet rifle full stock 32.5 in. long barrel, stock dated 1892 or 1893. and as no carbines were made after 1889 there is no possibility of to being a carbine, but over the years many have been cut down to create short hunting weapons out of them. Hope this helps and no toying with you.
