yea, i doubt this gun will ever be fired again. when i was a kid, we had a cut-off rifle that we shot quite a bit. it was (and still is) a serious weapon.

but there is more to this decison than simply restoring this reciever to it's origional configuration. this rifle was my grandfathers (i have no idea where he aquired it) but it somehow found it's way back to within a few hundred miles of the battle site. the reciever is now in rifle configuration, and except for a firing pin and rear sight, looks servicable.

but, if the possibility of this turning into a fraud is removed forever, i doubt that my grandfather or father would object to a careful rebuild.

still, i plan on doing nothing to this rifle anytime soon. i may start looking for correct parts tho.
