Trapdoor Carbine Rod Set
Sold
Set of three rods for the Trapdoor
carbine. These rods are in nice condition. They thread together
nicely. I believe Springfield or RIA reworked the threads and
refaced
the head for the Sp-Am War. The threads are correctly cut with a lath,
but you can see where they have been slightly extended with a die.

The upper rod is the M88 rod, the lower rod is
the VERY rare M88 Expeerimental rod that fits the first trial guns made in
1888. See pages 218, 219, and 234 in the newsletter.) The rifle has a
locking mechanism like the M84 RRB, but the locking
mechanism is a little stronger. The three RRB rifles have the
following differences in the distance between the inside locking
shoulders:
