8/14/02 OHIO VOL. INFANTRY SP-AM WAR CANTEEN. This designated OVI 7th Infantry canteen with French hunting horn (representing the infantry) the 81(?) and the XII makes this canteen very collectable. The troop information was applied by the soldier and is contemporary with the piece. Also, the soldier's initials are on the reverse side, J.R.C. This piece should be researched. We believe the sling is from a haversack since it is wider over the shoulder. However, we have seen a number of canteens with this style strap. $295 + S/H.
