A sealed box of experimental
carbine rounds produced in December 1878 and the box is marked
January 1879. It is believed the brass for these rouns was
supplied by the Manhattan brass company as a harder brass alloy
to help resolve the sheering of the case by the extractor. The box is
sealed in plastic causing the appearance of stains on the cover. The
cover isclean has the unusual stamping MANHATTAN in the upper left. The
head stamps are: C/F/12/78 and the box lettering says F/C/1/79. This is a
rare carbine box!!! $375 + S/H.
