These units are nearly identical to the ones shown in Glen Boas' article titled, "An Ordnance Department Bore Inspection Device for Springfield Trapdoor Rifles and Carbines." The article is in the December 2002 issue of THE GUN REPORT. The article details the evolution of the device starting in 1888 Chief of Ordnance Report. The units that Frank is making are excellent. the walnut/brass fits are tight and smooth. There are no sharp edges and the mirror is set so that you can easily view the bore using normal light either when the device is mounted over the ejector stud or in front of it. $70 post paid.
