M73 Rifle, SN48932

M73 Rifle, SN48932

This rifle was produced in 1875 and appears to be unaltered since production. The rifle shows wear and service use. The bore is not perfect, but it is shootable with decent rifling. The cartouche is gone or nearly gone. The firing proof is still visible. There is a stain in the wrist area of the stock that appears like a crack, but it is not a crack, just a stain. Here is a list of the items on this rifle that are correct.
1. Long wrist stock,
2. M64 trigger plate and M64 sling swivel held with screw,
3. Type II hammer and 1873 dated lock plate,
4. First style thumb piece with firing pin arch widened (1875 modification),
5. M73 rifle sight retained with slotless screws,
6. Both bands have the smallest "U",
7. The first style M73 cleaning rod,
8. Small V/P/Eagle on barrel, missing the last "P" which is correct,
9. Two position tumbler,
10. Thin ribbed butt plate,
11. Solid front sight,
12. Smooth truigger,
13. Type I firing pin,
14. Early breech block with MODEL/1873/Eagle/Crossed Arrows/ U.S.,
