M68/M70 Rifle
This is an M70 barreled action in an M68 stock with M68 bands, rod,
and M68
rear sight. The stock has the four M68 cartouches and the large stamped L
for the firing proof. The stock also has the drying crack which is very
common with trapdoors. The barreled action is not serial nmbered and the
breech block and thumb piece are both M70 variations. The rod and rod lock
are M68 and original to the gun. The barrel has been removed and cleaned.
The bore is pristine new, but the barrel is not new, but a cleaned M68
with
some typical rod markings around the muzzle. Why the mix of parts is
anyone's guess. I believe the mix is do to the national guard troops
who were
equipped with both M68 and M70 rifles and during cleaning, the parts were
interchanged. Remember, the M70 stocks and the M68 stocks were both cut
for the wide receiver. So, the the short M70 receiver or the long M68
receiver would fit either.
This is a very shootable competition rifle.
