Model 1884 Rifle
MODEL 1884 RIFLE SN 372766. This is a real beauty of a trapdoor
cartouched SWP/1887.
The metal has strong blue except for the muzzle where there is wear from
a bayonet that evidently was repeatedly attached. The color case
is weak on the outside of the block, but strong on the underside. The
bore is pristine and it is evident the rifle saw very little service.
There is a sliver of wood that had loosened and was glued on
the right side of the
tang. It is the original piece, just glued into place. The very tip of
the butt stock shows marks from when the gun was in the shipping crate or
in some type of mounting device. Everything
is correct on the gun and in perfect working order. The rifle photos
