M84 Type I Cadet Rifle, SN323772
U.S. Model of 1884 Type I Cadet Rifle, ser. #323772. The bore is
Good-Very Good, bright and shiny. The blue on the barrel has faded to
brown. The barrel is marked with a "V" over a "P" over an eagle head. It
has a Buffington rifle rear sight and two-piece front sight. The barrel
bands, nosecap and rear sight are brown like the barrel. The breechblock
is marked "U.S./Model/1884"; it has about 60% of its case color, as does
the tang. The receiver has about 40% of it's color remaining. The hammer
is fine-checkered. The lock has a three-notch tumbler; its lockplate has
about 50% blue remaining and is marked with the usual eagle,
"U.S/Springfield." It has a serrated trigger and the two-piece
triggerguard with no provision for a sling swivel. The buttplate is brown
and is marked "U.S." on the tang. The rifle has the correct later Cadet
ramrod. The stock is quite dark and is only Fair-Good with numerous
dents, scratches and dings, but no cracks. It has no cartouche or circled
"P" firing proof; it does have a small initial "U" behind the trigger
plate.
