M73 Rifle, SN266861
This M73 rifle has an SWP/1885 cartouche and weak circled P. The
stock has been sanded and refinished with oil. The rear sight is
retained with slotless screws that appear original. The front sight has
been slightly elevated for close range targets. The rifle has a pristine
new
bore with deep sharp rifling. The cleaning rod is a reproduction.
There is a chip in the wood from removing the lock plate incorrectly and
the M79 rear sight base has an M73 ladder and slider. Evidently a
previous owner was not happy with the windage operation of the sight and
replaced the ladder and slider.
