U.S. Model of 1873 Rifle, ser. #145266. The bore is near mint . very
bright and shiny. The barrel, receiver, both bands, nosecap, hammer,
lockplate and triggerguard have about 90% blue remaining. Even the
buttplate retains about 75% of its blue, with wear at the heel and toe.
The breechblock and tang have about 90% of their brilliant case color. The
rifle has the later version of the M1879 rear sight. The stock appears to
have been lightly sanded at some point, but the "SWP/1880" cartouche and
firing proof "P" are clear and the metal is not proud. The stock has some
storage dents and dings, but no cracks or missing wood. This rifle has a
proper early single thin-hook sling.
