45-70 Springfield Hunting Knives
These hunting knives
are referred to as a
brass hilted Model 1880 Hunting Knife that went into production in
1883, and the other is the first style, 1,000 made
with the iron hilt issued with the triangular rod bayonet rifle in
1881. The brass hilted knife has a complete Watervillet scabbard with
some stitching missing. The iron hilted knife is in a cut scabbard.
Both are in
used condition and both have sharp blades. Pending The brass hilt knife is
stamped U.S./SPRINGFIELD on one side and 1921 on the other. The scabbard
is stamped WATERVLIET/ARSENAL on the back of the loop. The wood handle
on the knife does not have any missing wood.
This knife is $350 + S/H.
Sold The iron hilt knife is marked
U.S./SPRINGFIELD on one side and 983 on the
other. There is one small piece of wood missing from the rim of the
handle. The butt of the handle
is stamped S.W.P./1881. The cost is $350 + S/H.
