M84 Rifle, SN185854

M66 Three Band Rifle

This rifle was refurbished by Springfield after the F-P War guns were shipped to France. States asked to have M66 rifles for their militias, so Springfield continued to build new M66's in the 1870-1878 period, making 3,560, and refurbish 580, in the 1876-1880 time frame. This rifle is believed to be one of the refubished guns done in the 1876-1880 period. It is in excellent condition with a minty bore and excellent metal and wood exterior. I do not believe the gun has seen much service considering the interior and exterior condition. For a shooter looking for a true "Buffalo Gun" this is certainly a strong candidate.
